THRIVE - A survivors poem

THRIVE

My being has shattered,

Pieces of me - scattered.

All hope that I held has diminished,

The last of my innocence - finished.

Wonder and joy, a distant memory.

I know the words, but I’ve lost the melody.

Darkness and distress, my only friends.

Watching the world through a distorted lens.

But deep within, part of me survives,

It’s screams echo inside -

 “ I will not die”

It’s the hope I thought lost,

The innocence that had fled,

The wonder I had misplaced,

The melodies assumed dead.

They are alive!

Their screams intensify

“I will not die”

I will live, I will love,

Hope, wonder and sing,

“I didn’t just survive,

For now, I thrive”
